RISE Up is a powerful program offering training and credentials that help you to find a job in retail. This fall, MMRACE is offering Part I of the National Retail Federation’s RISE Up program - Retail Industry Fundamentals - to help you stand out in the crowd! The Retail Industry Fundamentals credential prepares participants for jobs as entry-level retail associates in distribution centers, call centers, and stores. Our fall session will include the Retail Industry Fundamentals Certification & Basic Computer course. Eligibility requirements include proof of a 7th grade reading level prior to enrollment. Class has begun
This course will teach the student the rules of the game of basketball in preparation for a written certification exam. Upon completion of the course and passing the exam, the student will become a provisional member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO). A $70 material fee is payable to IAABO #20 at the start of class. This fee covers the rules book and student guide. Students only need to bring a pencil with them to class. Storm date of May 26. In this class we will go from thinking about what to sell or buy to what happens when you do sell or buy. We will cover setting up your Ebay and Paypal accounts. We will also cover listing, final value, fees, shipping, and other costs that affect your bottom line. For this class you will need a laptop and a few items to list on ebay. We will be researching these items, so please bring them to the first class. (If it is large, valuable, or breakable bring detailed pictures and information about the item.) Limit 8 students. Substitute teaching in the public schools can be very rewarding as well as very challenging. In this workshop an experienced and well-respected local substitute teacher will share his knowledge and strategies with those who want to find success as a substitute teacher. Topics will include classroom and behavior management, the substitute survival pack, resources and expectations from local schools, helpful hints to keep any classroom on track, and information about staff conduct, affirmative action and harassment policies. Persons who successfully complete this two-hour workshop will receive a certificate that will be acknowledged by local schools as part of the application packet. Limit 10 students.
This one-session workshop will help you decide if self-employment is the right choice for you. The class covers the pros and cons of owning your own business, the steps needed for start-up, the major elements of a business plan, and the many resources available to help you succeed.
