The instructor will review the six standards for energy efficiency in NEW structures and the RETROFITTING of existing structures to meet the Passive House standard. Materials, methods, economics, and why we should build better with each and every building project. Topics include the thermal performance of materials and their assembly, creating an air-tightness control layer, the impacts of thermal bridging commonly seen in “to-code” construction, high efficiency heating and cooling appliances, and the benefits of passive solar gain. Taught by a second grade teacher, this course is designed to teach and support educators in using the Seesaw app efficiently and effectively. Students will learn the multiple uses of the app, such as communication, creating valuable activities, and supporting meaningful learning experiences for students in grades PK-5. An iPad or laptop that can access Seesaw is required and Seesaw for Schools is preferred. Limit 10 students. Make-up date of Oct 21.
Essential Computer Skills incorporates three areas of the very basics, i.e., Basic Computer Skills, Internet Basics, and Using Email. These skills will help students gain entrance into today’s technological world. Without these skills it is impossible in today’s market to seek and find employment. These entry-level computer classes will provide that first step to understanding how the computer “works” and how it can lead to employment opportunities. For those working toward their HSD, this course is offered twice a week for 1.5 hours per class. Limit 10 students. No class Nov. 11 and 25.
You’ve taken some great photos. Now what? Learn how to edit your images to best use light, shadow, color and tone to tell the story you want to tell. We’ll provide access to Adobe’s editing programs Lightroom and Photoshop, and you’ll learn how to make your images stand out with your own style. We’ll cover everything from basic adjustments to options to publish your images. Computers are provided for class sessions. Limit 10 students.
