Next session: September 26th, 2024

Join us for a tour of the gristmill in the heart of downtown Skowhegan—a truly one-of-a-kind experience. You will learn about the unique history, process of transforming a jail into a mill, how stone-milled flour is made, and the company’s goals for the future. We will start at the bottom of the building and work our way up so that you can see our team of talented millers at work on our Austrian stone mills as they are humming away. Close-toed shoes are required, and hairnets and earplugs will be provided. Class will meet at Maine Grains, 42 Court St. in Skowhegan. Parking is available in front of the Miller’s Table Café at Maine Grains and the adjacent municipal lot. Please enter through the BLUE door and sign in at the dry Goods Shop--through the door to the left. Limit 22 students.
