Our High School Completion programs are free to all Maine Residents 17 and older who are no longer enrolled in school.

1.) Adult Diploma Pathway

Program Overview:

Earn your Adult Secondary Diploma with us! Our program requires twenty-two (22) credits across specific subject areas, and we tailor a personal learning plan just for you, considering any previous credits earned.

Program Highlights:

  • Small Group Classes: Offered at various times throughout the week, including day and evening options.
  • Flexible Learning: Hybrid and distance courses available upon request.
  • Comprehensive Support: Access to goal planning, college application assistance, resume help, job search navigation, and more.

2.) HiSET: High School Equivalency Test & Tutoring

Welcome to Our HiSETĀ® Program!

Program Overview

Our HiSETĀ® program is designed to fit your busy schedule. Receive individualized academic assistance to prepare for and take the HiSETĀ® exam. Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays during afternoons and evenings to provide flexible options.

HiSETĀ® Exam Requirements:

To earn your HiSETĀ® credential, you must pass all five subject tests individually and meet a required composite score. The tests include multiple-choice questions and an essay prompt for the Writing test. Testing accommodations may be available for individuals with documented disabilities.

Subject Tests:

  1. Reading
  2. Writing
  3. Social Studies
  4. Science
  5. Mathematics

Test Details:

  • Language Arts-Reading: 50 multiple-choice questions
  • Language Arts-Writing: 60 multiple-choice questions and one essay
  • Mathematics: 55 multiple-choice questions
  • Science: 60 multiple-choice questions
  • Social Studies: 60 multiple-choice questions

Minimum Passing Scores for Pre-Test:

  • Language Arts-Reading: 22+
  • Language Arts-Writing: 13+
  • Mathematics: 21+
  • Science: 18+
  • Social Studies: 19+

Eligibility:

  • Age: Must be at least 17 years old. Enrollment at 16 is possible with discussion with the sending school.
  • Residency: No residency requirement for Kennebec County, Maine, but proof of residency is needed for the official exam.
  • Identification: Valid ID required (State of Maine ID, driverā€™s license, passport, military ID, or other government-issued ID).

Educational Functioning Levels (EFL) and Prerequisites:

  • Learners with EFL 5 and 6 are automatically approved.
  • Learners with EFL 3 and 4 can enroll in HiSETĀ® but must take pre-HiSET courses.
  • Learners with EFL 1 and 2 should enroll in the Adult Secondary Diploma Program.

Fall 2024 Schedule:

  • HiSETĀ® Individualized Learning Lab Afternoon: Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:00-2:30pm
  • HiSETĀ® Individualized Learning Lab Evening: Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:00-7:30pm
