On a memorable evening filled with warmth and camaraderie, the Mid-Maine Adult Education program proudly celebrated the induction ceremony for the National Adult Education Honor Society (NAEHS). It was a night dedicated to recognizing the outstanding achievements of adult learners who have surpassed expectations, demonstrating not only academic excellence but also a commitment to service and leadership within our community.
The ceremony, held on May 8th, 2024, was a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our adult learners, who have shown unwavering determination in their pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. Among the highlights of the evening were the induction of seven exceptional individuals into the NAEHS, each of whom embodies the values of excellence, integrity, and service.
Led by the Honor Society Committee, comprised of Hannah Bard, Tekia Cox, Linda Davis, and Nancy Hebert, the event was a showcase of the transformative power of adult education. From heartfelt speeches to poignant moments of recognition, the evening served as a reminder of the profound impact that education can have on individuals and communities alike.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome from Hannah Bard, Director of the program, who emphasized the significance of the NAEHS in recognizing the achievements of adult learners. Hannah’s words set the tone for an evening filled with pride and celebration, as we honored those who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their studies.
Tekia Cox, the Academic Program Coordinator, then took the stage to highlight the benefits of NAEHS membership. As Tekia explained, NAEHS goes beyond a mere title or certificate; it represents a commitment to excellence and service, as well as an opportunity to advocate for adult education and inspire others to seize the opportunities it presents.
Next, Linda Davis, the Academic Student Coordinator, addressed the inductees, sharing heartfelt words of encouragement and praise for their achievements. Linda’s remarks underscored the importance of recognizing and celebrating the hard work and dedication of our adult learners, who serve as role models and ambassadors for our program.
The ceremony reached its pinnacle with the pinning and awarding of certificates, as former NAEHS inductee, Barb Beaulieu proudly presented each new member with their well-deserved honors. Each Inductee; Percy Evans, Muna Hassan, Bayan Hamdan, Miranda Prime, Sabryna Reynolds, Raghda Sbat, and Paula Veloza-Suarez, were celebrated for their unique contributions and accomplishments, demonstrating the diverse talents and achievements within our community.
The evening concluded with a poignant candlelight induction and pledge led by Tekia Cox, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the commitment to excellence in adult education. As each new member recited the pledge, they affirmed their dedication to promoting and advocating for the transformative power of adult education in their communities and beyond.
In her closing remarks, Hannah Bard offered a final message of encouragement to the newest members of the NAEHS, reminding them of the power of education to change lives and inspire others. As the ceremony came to a close, attendees were invited to enjoy light refreshments and celebrate with the inductees, marking the beginning of a new chapter filled with continued growth, impact, and inspiration.
In conclusion, the induction ceremony for the National Adult Education Honor Society was a night to remember—a celebration of excellence, achievement, and the transformative power of education. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the newest members of the NAEHS and look forward to witnessing their continued success and contributions to our community.
